So it looks like today Facebook changed everybody's emails on their profile to their @facebook.com ones, without telling you. Stupid, stupid move.

Here's how to change it back:

  • Click About on your profile and find your email address. Click Edit.
  • Click on the circle next to your @Facebook.com email address and change the setting to Hidden From Timeline.
  • Click on the circle next to your other email addresses and change the setting to Shown On Timeline.
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the Edit popup.
Now I can rant :P

Facebook launched this awful email service in 2010, which would send the messages to your Facebook messages area. It sucks though because I had this awesome Twitter account I registered with that email address and forgot the password, and no matter how many times I sent the password reset email it never arrived in my Facebook inbox, and that's why I hate it so much.

Now I have a reason to hate it even more.

Heh, brother, I gotta say, nobody uses the FB email service. Trying to shove it down people's throats will only hurt FB's credibility. They really should stop trying to do things like these and hoping nobody notices.

I agree. This is not acceptable, Facebook. No one likes your crappy email service.

Doesn't this tell us something about the mindset of the people behind Facebook? Specifically Mark himself.

Personally I don't think their mindset has evolved much beyond that of a three-year-old kid. A three-year-old kid has a very limited perimeter of what constitutes the world. To the kid, the world revolves basically around him and himself. The kid is still not able to understand how others may think.

That's basically what I think is wrong with Facebook.

Spot on. Mark does what Mark wants, but I don't think it's entirely his fault that privacy issues occur, you've got to remember that some of the engineers don't care about privacy either.

Mark Stalinberg.

This is going to turn into the "give Mark Zuckenberg names" thread, isn't it?

You mean the Facebook engineers? In that case, Mark is still responsible. The buck stops at him. He is Facebook.

I know, but I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because he may not know entirely what's going on, Facebook is a huge company.
